Driving with baby in back can be stressful. Sometimes you hear a cry, but it’s not safe to turn and look or readjust the rear mirror. This new baby camera made especially for the car can help you travel safe and easy.
Garmin are makers of GPS devices for driving, but this new innovation will definitely put them on the map for parents.
The Garmin babyCam is a small camera that clicks onto the car headrest, facing towards baby. The video signal is sent to your dashboard navigation device. This means no more turning around in your seat, or pulling over, just click a button to check on baby anytime.
The camera has a wide angle that can capture all the action in the back seat of most cars – whether it be a brood of kids or the family pet. For larger cars, you can easily create a system of up to four cameras that will all send to the one navigation monitor. There is even a night vision setting so you can see a (hopefully sleeping) baby in low-light.
Finally, driving parents can actually have eyes in the back of their head. Garmin babyCam is now available in North America for US$200, but unfortunately doesn’t yet ship to Australia. Not to worry – this futuristic camera was only released in Jan 2016 so they are likely to hit our shores soon. Keep checking back at our Gadgets section for updates.
