Double reveal: Duchess Kate’s due date AND Prince George’s favourite film

Kate and William

New details from Kensington Palace confirms due date info, and what we all knew – that Duchess Kate was in her first trimester when her pregnancy was announced. Not only that, a video just to hand shared some cute details about Prince George’s screen time habits!

“Delighted to confirm”

The Kensington Palace statement revealed the couple’s third child – a sibling for 4-year-old Prince George and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte – is due to arrive in April next year.

“Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in April 2018,” a Palace statement reads.

This indicates the initial royal pregnancy announcement was very early indeed, although without a more precise due date, it’s hard to know. The royal family decided to reveal Kate was expecting much earlier than originally intended, as she was forced to cancel engagements because she was suffering acute Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

“Very pleased”

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child,” the September statement read. “The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.”

“As with her previous two pregnancies, the Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London today. The Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace.”

Baby number three is fifth in line to the throne, after Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Royal screen time

Speaking of young George, his dad Prince William has just revealed he’s quite the fan of of some telly time. The Prince was at a royal engagement, chatting to a mother and son when he spilled the beans on George’s couch potato habits.

“What’s your son’s favourite show,” the child in this just-released clip asks William.

“He quite likes The Lion King. He’s watched that a few times,” William replies.

“He’s watched Octonauts, have you seen that?” he then asks the little boy, who says he thinks he’s seen the program before.

“He has watched some Lego movies as well,” William continues.

“Trying to keep him off the television is hard work.”

Royal business as usual

The royal due date reveal comes hot on the heels of news that Prince William and the Duchess will tour Norway and Sweden together early next year, the pair optimistically making plans for better days as Kate recovers from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

This trip was originally scheduled for November this year, but Kate’s health meant a rethink was necessary.

William’s not missing out on the Scandi vibes entirely, this year, though. He’s off to Finland next month, leaving Kate at home to continue her recuperation and gentle return to royal duties. And to look after the kids, of course.
