Disney princess dress-ups go designer

We’re all familiar with the Disney princess costumes available at toy stores – there’s a Cinderella number that is my daughter’s favourite. The lace is a little scratchy and the pale blue polyester fabric practically crackles with static electricity as she walks, but she loves it because it’s “for princesses”. What if celebrated fashion designers were to have a Disney moment?

Harrods of London teamed up with fashion photographer Jason Ell to produce a series of storybook princesses in designer gowns and accessories. From Valentino and Oscar de la Renta to Roberto Cavalli and Missoni, all the top-billing princesses are turned out in top designer threads. The results are spectacular. Better not let my daughter see Versace’s take on Cinderella.
