This one is going on my own personal Christmas list. Designed For Kids: A Complete Sourcebook of Stylish Products for the Modern Family by Phyllis Richardson is the ultimate reference for someone like me – a design buff whose interest has carried over to kids’ gear – and design-savvy parents everywhere.
This book is the first of its kind and hopefully the precedent will now be set; we’ve always had countless books available on design in general, however the kids’ niche has been sorely lacking a high quality sourcebook.
Designed For Kids features over 450 items for kids that are sophisticated, stunning, high-end and technologically advanced. Phyllis Richardson spent months trawling every design blog, every parenting site, and canvassing any avenue to do with designing children’s gear to produce the book. There are also interviews with leaders in the design world, giving perspective and context to the meteoric rise of designer goods in this niche market.
Available for $33.99 plus post, from Fishpond. I can see some of our favourites on the cover, so it’s sure to become the bible of the Babyology team!
