Dad’s sweet song for newborn baby girl is an instant hit

When Matthew Finch’s friends challenged the new dad to write a song for his 11-day-old daughter, he did so for a bit of fun. Then he posted the adorable video of him serenading his sleeping daughter online and it immediately went viral.

What’s so special about Matthew’s ode to his baby girl, which he titled, Ivy’s Dream Song? Have a listen for yourself.

Ivy is one lucky little girl. She is less than one month old and already has a beautiful song dedicated to her and an equally adorable video that she will have to cherish for the rest of her life.

Her dad, 29-year-old Matthew wrote the song in under 20 minutes and admits that this is the first children’s song he has penned.

“I used to be in a band when I was younger, so one of my friends half jokingly challenged me to write a song for Ivy and I thought I’d give it a go,” says Matt.

This simple song and precious moment between father and daughter has been shared thousands of times and viewed by over 500,000 people in a few short days. While Matt sings to his daughter about penguins, jungle animals and space creatures, the newborn blissfully sleeps beside him in a bouncer.

“I spent my younger years trying to write songs for my band and get them noticed so maybe I should just stick to writing children’s songs!” Matt jokes.

I think he’s on to something here. I wonder if Playschool is hiring…
