Cute cashmere for little girls from Eden and Zoe

eden and zoe 1.1

Small children and cashmere may not sound like friends, but here is a clothing range that flouts that rule.

Let’s face it, kids can be very hard wearing on clothing. The stereotype of a little girl who sits quietly and colours in is certainly not true of my daughters. Their clothes put up with not only dancing and twirling, but trampolining and scooting and good ol’ wrestling on the floor as well. Items which I was sure would be worn by all three girls are starting to look very worn out after being through one or two kids.

Melissa Wang, the San Francisco-based creator of Eden and Zoe used her two daughters (Eden and Zoe) as inspiration for her clothing line. She chose to work with cashmere, perhaps an unusual choice for childrenswear, because not only is it gorgeously soft and cosy, breathable and trans-seasonal, it gets better with age. Cashmere is the ultimate material for handing down through multiple children, as it becomes even softer with age.

Eden and Zoe 3

The Eden and Zoe range includes skirts and dresses, tops, cardigans and blankets. The beautiful Venus dress is the type of classic dress that is ideal both for special occasions and play. It has lovely detailing, including mother of pearl buttons  and a subtle pattern on the chest and hem. It’s available in grey, blue and purple for $198 and can be worn on its own in summer or with tights and a long sleeved undershirt in winter.

Eden and Zoe 2

All of the Eden and Zoe range are designed to mix and match. The Oceane cardigan matches all their other pieces, including the venus dress, and has a very cute hand-woven intarsia wave pattern design on the front. The cashmere fabric is soft, rather than ‘itchy’ and a cardigan makes for an ideal layering piece. It is priced at $176.

Both the Venus dress and the Oceane cardigan are available exclusively from Eden and Zoe which ships internationally for a flat rate of $15.

In a former life, she was a high school English and history teacher who loved going out for breakfast and spending holidays reading book after book. These days, Libby spends her time kid-wrangling, catching quiet moments with a coffee, trying to avoid taking the kids to the shops and, when time allows, getting lost in a good book or a spot of crochet.
