As a card-carrying Virgo, I’ve always been big on clean aesthetics with matching colours and order. So even though technically I should hate the stuffed toy creatures from Dutch company Redspottedpurple, I can’t help but adore the philosophy behind their designs.
"The creatures originate from children’s imagination. The colours don’t match, the legs aren’t the same. This is a habit children unlearn when they become older. Redspottedpurple wants children and grown ups to keep this habit."
The creatures, priced from NZ$59, look like something straight out of The Labryrinth movie . They come in either organic cotton or alpaca wool that’s handknitted in Peru and are filled with non-allergenic polyester stuffing. Whether you’re buying for your own child or as a gift for someone else’s, you can be assured they won’t have anything else quite like it.
Redspottedpurple use eco-friendly materials and create employment in developing countries by using traditional local handmade skills. Want to buy locally? Try Yopie’s Store
