Two Portuguese mums with a very bright idea have turned it into a colourful line of children’s shoes.
Tania Oliveira and Natasha Perry have managed to link their love of colour, kids’ shoes, and a desire to help grow Portugal’s shoe industry in their new company Coolis, which designs and makes “colourful shoes for colourful kids”.
Their very first collection, launched late 2014, starred a wide and colourful variety of Mary Jane-style shoes for girls. Now they have just released their second collection, unisex Oxfords in three modern colours (as pictured at top) for boys or girls, in time for the European spring.
I really love children’s shoes like these, particularly because of the way they marry simple, classic styles with beautiful details like the pink piping on the grey Mary Janes below. Because the styles aren’t fussy or overly detailed, they can be worn with a much greater range of clothing.
Of course, the materials used are top notch as well. All the shoes are designed and made in Portugal, and are leather, with rubber soles (so there’s no slipping). They come in a wide range of European sizes (from 22-35) and they will ship to Australia, although you’ll need to contact them for an exact quote on shipping prices.
The Mary Jane styles begin at €43 (about $60 at the time of writing) and the Oxford styles are €49. Check out the wide range and buy directly from Coolis.
