My kids have hit the age where they love dressing up. Fairies, princesses, kings, brave knights, scary skeletons, wicked witches, race car drivers, doctors, nurses, chefs and even a Stormtrooper – we’ve built up quite a collection of costumes, silly hats and other accessories already. The only real drama is our overflowing dress-up box. It’s all jumbled together in one of those cheap but cheerful pop-up baskets from Ikea. And inevitably, the costume pieces my kids need are usually on the bottom so you can imagine the mess.
That’s why I wish I had room for this fabulous maple dress-up unit from Community Playthings. There’s drawers underneath to hold faux bling, shoes and hats, shallow boxes on top for masks, animal ears or scarves, and plenty of hanging space in between to store costumes, feather boas and other frippery. I love the side-mounted mirror so little actors can admire themselves in all their finery. There’s also an optional kit to turn the double-sided dress-up unit into a self-contained stage for dramatic play. Bravo!
Don’t have the space for the drama centre? Community Playthings has plenty more toys that don’t take up quite as much space. We especially love the look of their hardwood ride-ons and push toys.
