Everybody’s favourite celebrity couple, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, shared some unexpected baby-to-be news at the 2017 Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) Awards yesterday.
“A little boy is next”
E!’s Giuliana Rancid stopped the pair on the SAG red carpet for a brief interview, and Chrissy confirmed their preferred gender for baby number two.
“Oh my God, a little boy is next for sure!” Chrissy told Giuliana.
Now 9-months-old, Luna was conceived via IVF and it seems a (proposed) baby brother will start life in the very same way.
“I picked her”
Chrissy spoke to People last year about her role in Luna’s conception, explaining she chose her daughter’s embryo and gender (and then went on to grow that adorable baby inside her body, too, let’s not forget!)
She knew exactly what she wanted when it came to baby number one. (We’re fairly certain John had a bit of a sway in the whole thing, too!)
“Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let’s put in the girl,'” Chrissy said.
She said it was a pretty easy choice, considering they’d always planned to have a baby boy too.
“A boy will come along. We’ll get there too, so it’s not like we really have to pick.”
Chrissy and husband John Legend dated for four years before they were married in September 2013. Luna was born a few months later, in April 2016.
During Chrissy’s pregnancy, the couple had joked that their baby girl might be a bit of a challenge.
“She might be a nightmare. We don’t know,” Chrissy said.
“Everyone just assumes she’ll be the sweetest thing on the planet [but] she might be a little hard,” they told ET.
Of course, as soon as Luna made an appearance all such talk was promptly forgotten in a haze of besotted adoration.
“Our new love is here! Luna Simone Stephens, born on Thursday, the 14th. We couldn’t be happier!” Legend posted to Twitter shortly after he first clapped eyes on his little girl.
From the sound of Chrissy’s red carpet chatter, it may be that Luna’s little brother will be conceived sooner, rather than later!
We’re excited for more news on this (possibly at this stage) hypothetical “new love!”
