My husband has a secret collection – cloth patches (oops, I guess it’s not so secret anymore). He started as a boy and has never quite been able to give up having a quick look at tacky souvenir stands for a woven patch of the landmark or town we are visiting. It’s a shame those stalls never sport anything quite as funky as these cloth patches from Chicken Rhythm.
Based in Belgium, Chicken Rhythm is the brainchild of friends Aliki Visser and Malvina Buonocore. We’ve already waxed lyrical about their t-shirts and backpacks here, now it’s time for their super-fun cloth patches to catch your eye.
All the designs are embroidered patches that are made to be ironed-on (but you can still stitch them onto a blanket if you’re old-school like my husband). The range is huge, from retro apples, pears and oranges to psychedelic flowers and beetles and bugs. Wear them for fun or for purpose – add new life to worn jeans with a cheeky monkey knee patch.
It’s worth knowing that a purchase from the t-shirt or backpack range will score you a free cloth patch – but don’t worry, it won’t be a strain to choose something fab. My favourite is the Ghettoblaster t-shirt, available in a select range of on-trend colours including chocolate brown, Kelly green and bright yellow.
Cloth patches start at €5 each and Chicken Rhythm are happy to ship internationally.
