Can it be true? New Swiss chocolate bar created to ease period pain

Ladies, if ever we needed an excuse to eat chocolate, here it is. A chocolatier in Switzerland claims to have invented a chocolate that eases period pain.

Now just pause and let that sink in.

It is no secret many women grab for the chocolate during their period, it is almost a given staple along with sanitary necessities and ibuprofen.

But this specially designed sweet relief called Frauenmond, which translates to women’s moon, comes from former pastry chef Marc Widmer from Chocolate with Love.

He told 20 Minuten the chocolate contains 17 different herbs from mountains in Switzerland that have a calming effect on the body and work with the serotonin in cocoa to further promote relaxation.

“We want to make the menstruation days of women more comfortable,” Mr Widmer says, as translated by The Independent.

Widmer also described his creation as “reassuring, harmonising, and at the same time very delicious”, Cosmopolitan UK reports.

But he warned the chocolate should not be taken as medicine.

It also comes at a hefty price of 12.5 Swiss francs (around $16.50 Australian) per 100 grams plus shipping. While marketed towards women, Widmer says men can also enjoy the designer chocolate.

“Of course men can also eat the chocolate. I myself have already tried [it],” he says.

If, like me, you’re not one to limit your chocolate consumption to a certain time of month and you want to take something that’s a little different to your next Christmas party, check out this absolutely scrumptious recipe for Christmas reindeer chocolate bark.
