Call The Midwife favourite Helen George – who you might know as nurse Trixie on the show – had to summon her very own midwife a few weeks ago, welcoming her first child with series co-star Jack Ashton.
Popped out early
Helen and Jack’s little girl was so early, in fact, that she was an unexpected guest at her own baby shower, much to the delight of friends and family.
“When your baby turns up early for her own baby shower, welcome to the world little one,” Helen captioned a super-adorable photo of herself and Jack snuggling their newborn daughter. “What an amazing day, we have the best friends.”
The Evening Standard reports that the couple’s baby arrived six weeks early, but as you can see she seems perfectly peachy, healthy and happy – albeit a little on the tiny side.
Helen apparently finished up work on the show a few weeks ago to head off on maternity leave. She shared a mountain of baby gifts she’d received from her Call The Midwife cast and crew on Instagram, revealing that they’d opted not to find out their baby’s gender.
“Beautiful send off from the best crew #callthemidwife- no plans to leave the show just a bit of time off. And the sex will be a surprise to us all boys can wear pink too,” she posted to Instagram, alongside a photo of gifted blankets, baby books, teddies and the like.
We’re relieved to note that she’ll be back on the show, next season.
The couple met on set, and later fell in love in South Africa, whilst filming the Call the Midwife Christmas Special in April 2016.
Helen (who was previously married to actor Oliver Boot) plays Trixie Franklin, and Jack plays Reverend Tom Hereward in our favourite BBC medical drama.
On the show the pair were an item, but then split up, but in real life, they’re rock solid, in love and now parents to this lovely little girl!
Huge congrats to this cute couple on the birth of their first little girl.
