Australian company ByK has spent years perfecting the children’s bicycle, giving it the kinds of features kids need to suit their proportions and strength as they learn to ride. Having mastered the standard kids pushbike, Byk has moved on to mountain bikes, and the new range is fantastic.
Babyology’s own Mandi tested out ByK bikes with her kids when they were launched, and found they were great for her growing daughters to learn to ride. For the mountain bike range, ByK has redesigned its ergonomic frame so the bikes have a performance-based shape and handle well off road.
The mountain bikes are everything we’ve come to expect from ByK: they’re lightweight, durable and fast. The 350MTB is a mountain bike version of the E350 range for four to six-year-olds. They’re fully kitted out for kids to smash down beginner off road tracks. Handling is smooth because of the long wheel base and efficient, tall wheels, there are hand and foot brakes for extra safety, and the SRAM x3i 3-speed internal gears mean there are no external parts to damage. If only all things for kids were so unsmashable.
Check out the full range on ByK’s website, and remember the sage advice that if you’re unsure of what size will suit, smaller is always better than bigger. Since they’re designed in Australia, ByK bikes have plenty of stockists so you can test out the right model for your little daredevil.
