Bricks alive! It’s the PlayMaker Lego app

Fancy a little free Lego fun?

PlayMaker is a brand new app that brings Lego bricks to life in a series of simple games.

The app allows users to take a photo of a Lego brick in any shape or size which is then used to form the body of various creatures and things – from crabs to hot-air balloons.

Watch your yellow Lego brick become a Hammerhead shark, dodging fish hooks. Or perhaps it’s a square of cheese that’s about to be nibbled by hungry mice or a rocket ship collecting lucky stars. The app includes eight animated games that are simple enough for kids of three years and over to play.

The really appealing part of this app is the pairing of hard, square Lego bricks with what appears to be fluid, soft pencil sketches – the contrast between the brightly coloured bricks and the sparse black and white page is brilliant.

The PlayMaker app was created for the iPhone as part of the Lego Festival of Play, which is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of Lego’s arrival in Australia.

PlayMaker is free and available via iTunes.
