Blankets with sleeves

If you are unaware of the ‘blanket-with-sleeves’ phenomenon, then you obviously don’t watch enough trashy television. I’m fairly certain this winter was not colder than previous winters, however a whole range of doona suits and blankets with added extras appeared on the market. Granted, most of these were demonstrated by awkward looking souls on mid-morning variety shows, but nonetheless, blankets-with-sleeves are apparently being snapped up by chilly people the world over.

Blankets-with-sleeves are designed to keep your entire body covered and cosy while you still retain the use of your hands. Market leader, the Slanket, has been scaled down for children – obviously kids enjoy lounging around in warmth as much as adults although I’m not sure you want the kids getting too cosy on the couch, game console in hand – they may never move!

The Slanket has quite a following and has even been the inspiration for new words, including ‘slankation’ (a holiday on your couch, wrapped in your Slanket).

Kids Slankets are $55 each and are available from Top 3 Designs.

Editors note: I got one for my husband for Father’s Day and he was not impressed althought I thought it would be a funny gift, so I got a few for my girls and as ridiculous as they sound (and look), they just love them; they look so snuggly and warm watching TV wrapped up in their slankets.
