Winter is just around the corner so there is no need to search for an excuse to add some of the divine pieces from Nui Organics to your baby’s wardrobe.
‘Nui’ means ‘big’ or ‘important’ in Maori and the designers behind New Zealand’s Nui Organics believe a clean start is a big thing for a little person. With that in mind they have created a superb collection of baby clothing and blankets from certified organic New Zealand Merino wool.
The collection includes a select number of tops, vests, jumpers, pants and jackets as well as coordinating hats, booties and a practical and super-stylish hooded scarf (say goodbye to cold ears forever). All the pieces are in a soft, muted colour palette of cream, cocoa, sand and silver. No dyes are used at Nui – what you see are the natural colours of New Zealand Merino sheep.
A pixie-hooded rib jacket with coconut shell buttons, a tri-colour striped jumper and a superb butter-soft felted wool jacket are all simply lovely but the standout is the cream felted wool vest with contrast stitching. Vests are one of the few items that I find myself pulling from the wardrobe for three quarters of the year. Perfect to take the chill off autumn and spring days, a vest also provides extra warmth in winter under coats without adding bulk.
Also available are woollen baby blankets in a number of knits, colours and weights. The checked Grid blanket in cocoa and cream is wonderful and would certainly be suitable for beds long after the baby years.
Clothing prices range from NZ$32 to $118 and blankets range from NZ$98 to $149. Nui Organics ships to Australia.
