Belkin are well-known for their range of tech-gadgets and accessories, including WeMo, a suite of ingenious products that allow you to control home electronics from your mobile phone (whether that’s turning a ‘welcome-home’ light on at night before you arrive home or lying in bed and firing up the coffee-machine first thing in the morning!).
A new gadget has just been added to the WeMo range – WeMo Baby. WeMo Baby is a baby monitor that can be controlled with your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. It works simply by wirelessly streaming audio from your baby’s room to your mobile device. Multiple mobile devices can be used simultaneously and if you’re keen, you can upgrade to Evoz, which gives you all sorts of additional functionalities such as text and call notifications when your baby is crying and an analysis of sleeping and crying patterns.
Without doubt, there is a trend toward baby monitors that use apps and mobile devices. Babyologists, have you made the switch from an ‘old-style walky-talky type’ baby monitor to a new, app-driven model?
WeMo Baby is only available in the US at present (priced at US$89.99) – stay tuned to see if it hits the Australian market.
