Bec Judd is worried about her 3-year-old daughter Billie’s body image

Rebecca Judd has revealed on KIIS FM that she’s very concerned about her three-year-old daughter, Billie, who is starting to show worrying signs of developing a negative body image.

Focused on looks

She may only be three, but it appears that Bec’s daughter Billie has already fallen into the body image trap that affects many young women today. Her mum revealed on KIIS FM’s The 3pm Pick Up program (where she has a weekly guest spot), that to her shock the tiny tot is already extremely focused on how she looks.

“All of a sudden [Billie] has started caring about her appearance so much. It’s really scary,” said Bec. “I don’t know where it’s come from because at home, I wear active wear pretty much, sneakers, chuck my hair up and barely put on any make-up.”

Curly hair, does care

The former model and mother of four who is married to AFL pro Chris Judd, went on to say that her daughter hates her curls and has taken to excessively brushing them and even screaming at herself in the mirror.

“She’s got this curly hair, so she brushes it and it springs back up. And she screams at the mirror, she’s like, ‘arrgh!’ She’s just furious,” she explained. “I said ‘Billie what are you doing, just let it go babe you’ve got curly hair’ and she says ‘Mummy I don’t like my hair I want straight hair like you’.”

Looking up to mum

Even relaxing on holiday last week (the family were in Port Douglas), Billie was unable to switch off her image concerns claiming that she wasn’t as beautiful as her mum.

“We were going out for dinner, and I had these cool studded flats on,” Judd said. “She [Billie] had these little flats with a pussycat on them and we were just about to walk out the door she goes, ‘Oh mum, I can’t go out for dinner, you look far more beautiful than me.'”

Strong, kind and smart

Although appearing often in Bec’s Instagram feed (which has almost 650,000 followers), apparently Billie doesn’t get any screen time and doesn’t watch any shows that place importance on how people look.

The three-year-old did become the Australian ambassador of a new Barbie range launched by Myer earlier this year – something her mum only approved after considering whether she would enjoy it – but in light of her recent worrying behaviour, Bec says their family is now focusing on being “strong, kind and smart.”

Bec’s body controversy

Unfortunately, the busy mum has had her own body image issues to deal with previously – but those of a different kind. After being slammed for being too thin following the birth of Billie in 2014, Bec hit back at media outlets and body-shamers on her blog Rebecca Judd Loves:

“We wonder why there are so many nasty, negative internet trolls out there and we also wonder why so many women have body issues – ummm, probably because they read The Daily Mail.”

We think both Bec and her gorgeous daughter look great, but do hope that Billie learns to relax about her looks soon.
