I may have finally ditched the nappy bag but that doesn’t mean the multiple bag dilemma is over.
I love taking photographs and if my camera bag wasn’t so bulky and so obviously ‘camera-ish’, I would definitely take my camera on lots more outings. Just as I used to think (more than eight years ago) ‘Why can’t someone come up with a handbag and a nappy bag combined?’, I now think, ‘Handbag and camera bag in one – there’s a good idea’. And thankfully it’s being done, with style.
A number of designers have reinvented the camera bag so that you can comfortably carry your lipstick, your lenses and a nappy wallet, all in one bag. At a glance these bags look like fashionable handbags but inside there are dozens of custom pockets for camera equipment and other necessitates.
Emera offer two camera-bag styles – a simple canvas and leather tote and a classic quilted tote. Both have loads of padded compartments for your camera gear as well as space for “magazines, laptop and vitamin water” – or a sippy cup, as the case may be.
If you want to make a colourful statement, check out Epiphanie bags (shown below). There are five styles to choose from, each blending functional camera bag features with handbag style plus they come in lollipop brights including hot pink, purple and clover green.
Emera bags are priced at US$169 and Epiphanie bags range from US$164.99 to $184.99. Both designers ship to Australia.
