Back to School 2016 – hop to it in new school shoes

School shoes, like them or loathe them, school kids spend a lot of time on their feet during the school day and no one wants them to be uncomfortable in their school kicks. Click on through to reveal a handful of our favourite shoe brands suitable for school.

Perhaps the brand I think of first when I hear school shoes, is Clarks. Synonomous with old-school style and a quality fit, I love the laser cut detail of the girls’ Ingrid Junior shoe, priced $129.95 available in sizes 11 to 3.5. Boys looking for a smart, comfy shoe can get exactly that from the Alliance, $99.95 in sizes 9 to 3.5. And no laces to wrangle for little ones just starting at school. Fitting all feet from pre-schoolers to seniors, Clarks shouldn’t be missed!

Want to take home a leather school shoe for under $40? If you’ve enthusiastically answered yes (and who wouldn’t!) Target is where you should be headed. A great range of back to school leather school shoe options await – and all priced $39.

For a school shoe option that isn’t going to break the bank, Grosby is an excellent choice. Sturdy and able to withstand whatever the kids throw at them, there’s a great range available from Payless Shoes. The Grosby Educate and Eager styles are both available online for just $34.99.

Marks and Spencer is a treasure trove for all things school uniform, including shoes. The rounded toe of the classic shoe style (£28) looks very smart and we adore the gorgeous brogue style (£30), pictured above. Marks and Spencer offer free delivery to Australia when you spend over £75, for a limited time, so be quick to order a pair for all kids!

Athlete’s Foot is a great place to look for school shoes regardless of whether it’s regulation black shoes or just casual sneakers your child needs. Stocking the Ascent brand, including these pairs of comfy Ascent Kids Sustain shoes, $84.95 and the Adela shoe, $109.95, plus a whole stack of great casual footwear brands, you’re guaranteed a great shoe fit with these footwear specialists.

We recently mentioned the spectacular shoes from Plae. The Roan style shoe is part school shoe, part sneaker and all style. A beautiful blank slate, the leather upper and velcro tab closures allow for wider feet and a non restricting, comfortable fit. Priced $94.95, the Roan shoe is available in black and white and in sizes 8 to 13.5. You can find them locally at Billy Lou Kids Shoes.

For the kinder set, a hybrid sneakers-meets-sandal style is a great idea for the first term back. Plus, there’s less chance that all that sand from the sandpit will end up in the backseat of your car!  Kai, the sister collection to See Kai Run, has a great option available with the navy (also available in black) Christopher II shoe, $74.95, and available up to a size 3.

Walnut make a beautiful sandal with a contoured foot bed for comfort. The Jamie Triple Strap Sandal, $59.95, comes in sizes 24 to 35. Choose from white or navy, they’re perfect for the warm summer days running around the yard.

My vote for the most comfiest sandals getting around? It’s easily Saltwater Sandals. The original Saltwater Sandal is awesome for school feet and no doubt available in a colour to suit your uniform be it black, navy, brown or tan. The old-school sandal design prevents sweaty soles by letting feet breathe and (dare I say it) not getting smelly! Look for a local stockist at Saltwater Sandals, there’s sure to be one close to you.
