Bacabuche – beautiful baby basics in skin-friendly bamboo

We know baby clothes are so irresistible you want to buy them all, but we quite like the idea of a simple wardrobe, consisting of a few beautiful pieces like the ones by Bacabuche.

The designers of Bacabuche were thinking of two things when they designed the collection: how to make dressing babies easy, and how to keep babies comfortable. They deftly solved both problems coming up with simple, versatile pieces that are lovely and easy to wear.

The collection consists of the sorts of basics that babies wear every day: leggings (US$75), singlets, loose tees (US$55), and sleeveless kimono rompers (US$80).

All pieces are made from super soft bamboo jersey, and the colour palette is subdued and unfussy. Charcoal and cream stripes are one of the only patterns amid blush, mint, navy and grey marle coloured garments. And while the colours sound plain, they’re actually quite restful and definitely contemporary.

In a time when babies’ wardrobes rival their parents’ for quantity (and style), Bacabuche makes a case for a small collection of modern, high-quality garments that will last through a few rounds of hand-me-down, from sibling, to cousin, to friend.

Bacabuche has an online shop and ships to Australia from the US for $20.
