As a huge Sarah Jessica Parker fan, I have to say I was completely starstruck yesterday when sitting only a metre away from her during the press conference for her new movie, I Don’t Know How She Does It.
This is her first trip to Australia and she is here promoting the movie and attending tomorrow’s Oaks Day racing event in Melbourne, then flying back home.
I managed to ask her a direct question and will post video on her response later today once I edit the video footage.
The day was a twelve-hour excursion for an hour-long press conference, but it was worth it! I left home at four-thirty in the morning to fly to Melbourne and made it in plenty of time for the nine o’clock start, although with the airline issues right now I was not so sure I’d make it there at all.
The event started off with delicious champagne, tea, cupcakes and pastries. Here are a few photos of the spread below.
This is a recreated scene from the movie which they spent a lot of time coordinating and it looked fantastic.
When Sarah Jessica Parker came out she looked amazing, so gorgeous and friendly to the media, she was just so lovely. We settled in for the press conference which was mostly Q&A from the media and she was happy to answer everyone’s questions honestly and give a little information about her family and personal life.
In her new movie I Don’t Know How She Does It, based on the Allison Pearson novel, Sarah Jessica Parker plays a New York City career woman veering from one crisis to the next, with responsibility to a husband – played by Greg Kinnear – and two children. I’m confidently predicting the movie will be a hit with the rom-com girly population… and every mum who’s ever tried to strike that precarious balance between family and work life, never an easy task.
The film, which co-stars Pierce Brosnan, Kelsey Grammer, Seth Meyers, Busy Philipps, Olivia Munn and Christina Hendricks, opens nationally in Australia tomorrow. Take a peek at the trailer below if you have not already seen it.
