Babyology explores Japan – toy stores!

Japan has the most fantastic toy stores of anywhere I have ever been. I recently visited Japan for three weeks with my three and four-year-old daughters and we spent a lot of time in toy shops, although some seemed more for adults than kids.

We spend a whole morning at Bornelund playing with the toys and games on display and checking out the amazing range of toys in the store.

Kiddyland’s flagship store is located in Harajuku in Tokyo. This five-storey building is the town’s major landmark and is filled with so many Hello Kitty dolls, stickers and stationery, there were far more adults in there than kids.

Another place not to be missed is Hakuhinkan Toy Park in Ginza. This place has eight storeys of toys and games. We spend about four hours in here and had the best time. Here are some of my favourite toys from the store – it was hard to choose just a few (and more importantly, buy just a few!) How can you go past these Lego bento boxes or Hello Kitty dressed up as Elmo or Cookie Monster?
