I have a little confession to make – I don’t do kiddy music. You’ll find us rocking in the car to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Cult and many a vintage hit, but never, ever kiddy music. At times I have wondered if the boys are missing out, but with the arrival of Baby Loves Disco in Australia, it would seem that there are many other parents just like me.
Baby Loves Disco is a dance club for the junior set, featuring kid-friendly, authentic music like Blondie and the Bee Gees as well as contemporary artists. Beginning in Philadelphia, it has spread with velocity right around the world and Sydney is hosting its very first disco tomorrow with sellout success.
The next one is on September 27 has also sold out so get in quick for the remaining two for the year – a Halloween disco on October 31, and another on November 28. Healthy snacks and drinks are served to the kids whilst DJ Manny spins his tunes and a chillout area beautifully complements the excitement of the games and giveaways. Parents can even have a relaxing cocktail while the kids boogie. This sounds like my kind of gig!
The host club is Slide Bar in Darlinghurst and tickets are $19 for adults and $17 for kids from Baby Loves Disco. Non-walkers are free.
