If you think the regular special buys at ALDI cause chaos, wait until you see what the grocery retailer is launching tomorrow! In what’s sure to cause havoc in the aisles, Aussie fashion pioneer Collette Dinnigan is releasing a range of girls’ clothing which will be sold exclusively at ALDI stores. Hold onto your designer dresses ladies, it’s going to be every girl for herself!
If you’re currently compiling your shopping list, somewhere between the eggs and milk, you may want to jot down ‘Collette Dinnigan girls’ cotton day dress’. In an Australian supermarket first, iconic designer Collette Dinnigan has designed a girls’ range which will be sold exclusively in ALDI stores from tomorrow (October 14) .
While Dinnigan may have significantly scaled down the retail arm of her business, it seems her inspiration is now coming from her own children.
“I have been designing children’s apparel since my daughter Estella was born 11 years ago. Now thanks to ALDI, I can bring that quality with unbeatable value to all Australians. It’s been very rewarding to provide a well-designed quality made collection for young girls that carries my design aesthetic, including signature Collette Dinnigan prints and embroidered embellishments such as cotton broderie lace details,” she says.
The Young Hearts collection includes sizes to suit babies (000) right through to girls around the age of 14. The range is large, with 74 pieces, and includes everyday essentials like shorts and tees, through to pretty party dresses and swimwear. Prices will range from $11.99 through to $29.99.
ALDI says it wanted to partner with Dinnigan as part of its push to continue bringing innovative products to the market.
According to a statement, “The retailer’s stringent quality assurance and testing program includes colourfastness, finishing, durability and functionality coupled with a commitment to using natural fibres wherever possible. This reflects Collette’s principles of impeccable design detail and premium quality established over a 25 year career in fashion.”
Dinnigan says the range is inspired by Australia, and its colours.
“Young Hearts has a youthful, bohemian spirit incorporating colours that reflect an Australian summer like brilliant turquoise waters, skies of vibrant blue, bright sunshine yellow and of course pretty rose pinks and reds that little girls dream of.”
The range goes on sale at ALDI tomorrow, and stock is limited, so it’s likely to be at the top of most people’s shopping list.
