Investment dressing is a thing, even for kids. The argument goes like this: if a piece is classic, beautiful and stays that way when put through its paces by a small army of siblings, then it’s worth the money. Atelier Child is an Australian luxury knitwear brand for babies and kids, and its divine Merino basics are definitely worth the investment.
With a collection of contemporary patterns and gorgeous basics, Atelier Child gives kids’ wardrobes a hit of fun, colour and impeccable quality. It’s a brand with impressive fashion credentials – one of the founders edited the hallowed pages of Vogue magazine.
Atelier Child makes lovely, basic cardies and crews in shades of grey, navy, black, white and pink. They’re perfect for popping over a special party outfit on a chilly day, or to dress up everyday outfit fare.
Why though would anyone go with basics when Atelier Child has such incredible patterns to choose from. The same crew neck jumper ($149) comes in a multi-shaded blue or pink camo on creamy white, racing checks with contrasting, kelly green neck and wristbands, oversized houndstooth ($149) or the lovely leopard print in inky black on white with dashes of khaki or rock melon.
Babies can get in on the style game with heirloom camo blankets ($225), long-sleeved onesies or the sweetest little knit leggings ($69).
Many of Atelier Child’s jumpers have coordinating scarves, and hats with fluffy pompoms. There’s the Stripe Hat ($75) that has a colour palette reminiscent of a Miffy book or, our favourite, the spotted leopard scarf ($79).
Atelier Child’s gorgeous pieces are available online and ship for $10 in Australia.
