AimÈe Wilder – wonderfully wild walls

The first word to to be whispered from my mouth upon seeing the wallpapers from
Aimée Wilder was
“Coooool”. It seems it’s a common reaction to these
bold and beautiful papers and that first gut-instinct reaction is
really something to go with in the world of interior decorating.
Another
sure sign for me that a product is amazing beyond belief is when I
start daydreaming about it in my sons’ rooms, which has meant this
paragraph has taken me half an hour to write!

Superbly bold graphics come from this talented designer, who was
born and bred in New York City and raised by parents who worked in
fashion.
These early experiences with fabrics and prints evidently took a firm
hold on the young Aimée Wilder, who has gone on to create wallpapers
which contemporary design lovers will just lap up. She has designed for
some revered companies such as Dwellbaby and Skip Hop and you may
well see her work traipsing around on people’s feet in the near future
– Vans have taken her on to design three prints for its groovy gear.

There are prints to suit babies, kids, teens and adults, so the only
trick will be not to go too overboard on Wilder’s papers. I love the
‘Squirrels’ ‘Robots’ and ‘Clouds’ for kids and the ‘Analog Nights’ and
‘Crop Circles’ for me. I’ve actually tried to look for a design I don’t
like
and failed miserably. I love that wallpaper has seen a resurgence in
popularity. With the ever wonderful Florence Broadhurst papers having
been revived, there is a new platform for the designers of today whose
work translates wonderfully to wallpaper.

Aimée Wilder ships internationally with wallpapers ranging in price from US$140
to $155 a roll. Samples are available for $7.
