A stroll through Bugaboo designer pram collaborations

With new models only released every few years, Bugaboo keeps their current models exciting via special collaborations with designers. Here’s a roundup of the past Bugaboo special editions.

Bugaboo’s first collaboration was with famous Dutch fashion designer Bas Kosters. He made the By Bas collection, consisting of a Bugaboo Cameleon complete stroller, footmuff and parasol. This launched in December 2004.

Next came Marc Jacobs. He designed an all black stroller with his signature printed on the fabric. Only fifteen were made in 2008.

After that Bugaboo teamed with Paul Frank. They created a vibrant collection featuring several tailored fabric sets, footmuffs and blankets. This collection was available for about a year and launched in 2009.

In 2009, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the iconic Hello Kitty character, Bugaboo produced an exclusive limited edition of the Hello Kitty Bugaboo Bee. Only eight strollers were made worldwide – exclusively available at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong and Singapore.

In 2010, to mark World AIDS Day and its partnership with (RED)TM, Bugaboo teamed with Gwen Stefani, Creative Director of L.A.M.B and frontwoman of  band No Doubt, to create a custom, one-of-a-kind Bugaboo Cameleon.  This exclusive Bugaboo stroller was auctioned to help the fight against AIDS in Africa.

Bas Kosters did the same this year. He designed a print inspired by Africa and used in an exclusive Bugaboo Bee and Bugaboo Cameleon, which were both auctioned again to help against AIDS.

The newest in the Bugaboo special collection is the Missoni Bugaboo Cameleon and Bugaboo Bee. I met these stunning strollers in Amsterdam and fell in love with them. A gorgeous geometric print with blocks of colour cover the Bugaboo Cameleon hood and bassinet apron, while the Bugaboo Bee is treated to stunning zigzags. Each pram comes with an exclusive Missoni knitted blanket.

They will be available in Australia from July at selected stores. Those who are already set up with the Bugaboo Cameleon, Bugaboo Bee, or who are planning to buy the Bugaboo Donkey later this year will be ecstatic to know that the Missoni pram toppings and knitted blanket sets will be available for purchase separately!

What will emerge for the next special collaboration? I have a few ideas but what do you think?
