Most baby gear has a limited lifespan, so we’re always excited to find something with longevity, like the gorgeous Coveted Things Swaddle Scarves.
Like so many brilliant feats of ingenuity, the Swaddle Scarves (US$40) were dreamed up by a mum during her most intense nesting phase: the restless eighth month of pregnancy. Meridith Layne, a professional in apparel manufacturing and a lover of textiles, saw a gap in the baby market. There were no contemporary blankets that could be loved as much by parents as by babies.
Meridith’s credo is one echoed by so many parents, “just because you become a parent, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice good design.” That means no pale yellow zoo animal nursery motifs, and no more exclusively baby pink or baby blue blankets.
To make sure she lived by her credo, Meredith created gorgeous baby swaddle wraps in contemporary prints and patterns that can do double duty as scarves, wall hangings or travel blankets. We never thought we’d be borrowing our kids’ clothes this early, but if the design is good, why not?
Each Swaddle Scarf is made with soft, GOTS certified organic cotton, and the inks are non-toxic. As for the quotes, they’re the sorts of things that might pop into anyone’s head as they try to navigate the baffling and unknowable terrain of new parenthood. “Sh*t just got real” is particularly poignant, no?
Swaddle Scarves are available on the website, and good news: they ship internationally.
