A very special feline is about to celebrate her birthday, and Sydneysiders will be getting the rather large gift! Just months after Australia welcomed its first Hello Kitty Cafe, the cat catering is set to continue, at the new Hello Kitty Diner – and the doors are just about to open.
Since it was announced earlier this year that Chatswood will be the home to the Hello Kitty Diner, fans have been eagerly awaiting an opening date. It’s now been revealed the American-style diner will open on November 1, 2015 – Hello Kitty’s birthday.
Earlier this year, Hello Kitty Diner managing director Australia Dorothy Wang told the Daily Telegraph that the kitty cuisine would be something special.
“The diner will be something more in-depth than Hello Kitty shaped burgers. We want to introduce the character in a deeper sort of way… try thinking a little deeper, like what are Hello Kitty’s favourite foods? What sort of taste or ingredients are reminiscent of her?”
“The idea is that it doesn’t matter where you’re from, we’re interested in what Hello Kitty means to you,” Ms Wang said.
As well as classic American burgers, there will also be Japanese and Korean food, and it’s likely the fun feline will be making her way across the nation.
“We won’t stop in Sydney we are looking to introduce her to other cities in Australia,” says Ms Wang. “Maybe we will do some pop up stores in the next year.”
The diner will open to the public on November 1, but the grand opening next weekend is by invite only. While you’re waiting for you chance to chow down on the food, take a look through our archives to find more Hello Kitty fun.
