Open, shut them

I’m one of those mums who’s in a constant state of disarray. I’m always running late. My purse is never where I thought I left it. And I can never, ever find my keys.

So while I admire the very modern design of this seriously funky storage unit by uber-cool (and uber-handsome) Dutch designer Martin Sammer, I have to sadly and rather reluctantly admit that my four year old is right. With so many drawers and shelves to open, it’ll make the daily hunt for this mummy’s car keys a near impossible task.

But for people who are slightly more organised, what an amazing piece. The transformer-shelf is designed to be an interactive piece of furniture. So although it starts out like a solid block, you can push it or pull it in any number of ways to create any number of different shapes. Plus, it will hold – and hide – a heap of children’s games, books and puzzles. What more could any hip parent want?

There’s no word on exactly how much the transformer-shelf costs, or whether it’s even available in Australia, but we’re guessing good design like this doesn’t come cheap. Need to know more? You can contact Martin direct via his website.
