I’m all for furniture designed specifically to meet the needs of children, however occasionally there’s a piece that is scaled from adult size to children’s size that gives it a cute edge, like the Little Chester from London’s Monsters and Munchkins.
But before you start thinking traditional Chesterfields equal slippers, newspapers and sitting around an open fire, Monsters and Munchkins have glammed it up with gold or silver upholstery. The silver would make a fabulous contrast in a room decorated in vibrant brights. Little Chesters are available as armchairs or ‘two seater’ sofas.
If you’ve got time to browse at Monsters and Munchkins, have a peek at their clothing range that includes labels Little Linens, Mini A Ture and Hucklebones. Perhaps because my favourite colour is soft, buttery yellow, my autumn splurge would be the Hucklebones Shrunken Sleeve Coat (£135) or for younger girls, the Little Linens French Toile Jacket (£55) – if only they made them for mums.
Little Chester armchairs are £230 and the sofas are £270 – and yes, they ship internationally!
