As the mum of two little boys, “Why can I smell wee?” is one of my most repeated phrases.

What smells?

And to add insult to injury we have also just completed a very late round of toilet training. The result? Wee smell everywhere.

Thankfully, genius mums have come up with an unlikely but highly effective little hack to get rid of the smell.

Want to know what it is?  Easy. Just grab a can of shaving cream and squirt it all over the floor. Yep. Alllll over it!

Check out the mums all over Facebook doing exactly that using the hashtag #lifewithboys:

Put that shaving cream to use

So how do you do it? As the photos above suggest, this is quite the production!

Grab a can of shaving cream. Aim it on the walls and the floor and shoot – cover all the floor surface, as much as you can.

Mums seem divided as to how long you need to leave the shaving cream on before removing it – some suggest the longer the better – overnight even!

How it works

According to the Mums Who Clean Facebook group, nobody is sure why this method works, but apparently it’s thought the chemical combination in the shaving cream destroys the ‘uric acid crystals’ in urine, completely removing the smell instead of masking over it.

Nothing worse than that barely-masked wee smell is there? Well, the shaving cream solution seems like a game-changer.

So gross. So real. And so simple if it really works!
