Here is the latest way to capture the beauty of your children, in a contemporary work of wooden art . And this incredible business has been created by an Aussie mum – what’s not to love?
Somehow these incredible portraits manage to combine a feeling of yesteryear through an air of Victorian silhouette portraiture, yet maintain a very modern edge. They’re created using images of your own children, and we think they’re amazing.
Cheek By Jowl Design was created by Australian designer, and mum of two, Sally Esse. She’d spent many days in London’s National Portrait Gallery while on maternity leave and became inspired by the collection of Victorian silhouettes. So the seed of an idea was planted, and eventually Sally created her amazing business.
The process of creating the wooden portraits starts with a the client taking a portrait photo of their subject, just using a camera or smartphone, and sending it through to Cheek By Jowl Design. Then you can choose from a range of frames, and colours from the Porter’s paint range to further personalise the keepsake.
Sally then adds hand written names and dates, and etching. Prices start at $125 for unframed wall mounted single portraits, up to $540 for a framed family of four. Delivery for orders within Australia is free, and orders can be made directly through Cheek By Jowl Design.
