Quick! The hunt is on to find Santa’s pants before Christmas!
It’s Where’s Wally meets the festive season in a humorous seek-and-find book by illustrator Richard Merritt. Where Are Santa’s Pants? opens with a funny message for readers – in the countdown to Christmas, everything is ready to go but there is one problem. This year, Santa is “…so trim and fit that his baggy, old pants keep falling off.” And now he needs your help to find them.
“Christmas can’t go ahead if Santa’s got no pants, so drop the baubles, forget the carols and join the worldwide search.”
We start the search in the North Pole where Santa’s red and white strides are lost amongst snow, candy canes and busy elves. We then head to the beach, a village, a department store, a nativity play and on to the post office, through the city, a spin around an ice rink, a stop at a busy train station and more – where are the pants?!
As well as searching for Santa’s pants, there are eight reindeer up to all sorts of tricks on every page (including riding hot-air balloons, surfing and ice-skating) and a lucky sixpence to be found in each double-page spread.
Merritt’s use of bright colours is eye-boggling and makes these seek-and-find puzzles satisfyingly challenging (solutions are included at the end if finding Santa’s pants is driving you crazy!). It’s suitable for children aged four years and over and is perfect for some Christmas Eve or Christmas morning ‘quiet time’!
