A new wearable for kids has hit the market. The PAXIE tracker not only helps parents locate their kids but it monitors temperature and heart rate, which can be a lifesaver in the heat of Australian summers.
Taking kids into busy, crowded areas can be so stressful. Even playgrounds are packed at times, and you want to let your children free to frolic, but you also want peace of mind. PAXIE is a wearable for those parents who don’t want to helicopter but still want the peace of mind that comes with being able to check in without interrupting.
While most other kid’s wearables stop at GPS tracking, PAXIE goes one step further. This is a hybrid device that tracks both location and activity. It has ambient temperature and heart rate monitors, which is perfect for the Australian summer when kids can be prone to sunstroke or exhaustion. Knowing how much energy children are exerting and if they are overheating can save young lives in the unforgiving summer heat.
The PAXIE is also water resistant and button free so kids can’t accidentally press a panic alert. However it is designed so that two hands are needed to remove the band and there is an alert system for when the band is removed. This works in place of a panic button, giving more safety with less chance of false alarms.
There are no LED displays on this wearable to distract your child from their play, instead it interacts with an app on your smartphone where you can set alarms to notify you if anything requires your attention. But the best feature of the PAXIE may be that it has interchangeable design bands. Kids can change the look of their wearable to suit their mood, making it more likely to be worn without a fuss.
The PAXIE tracker is currently in pre-order only. It comes in a package that includes the wearable device, three interchangeable bands, the smartphone app, and an extra charging cord. Keep checking in with our Gadgets section and we will be sure to let you know once they are available locally.
