This quirky grandma with a taste for adventure takes kids into the world of creepy crawlies and scuttling bugs. Grandma Loves Bugs is a diverse collection of games that can help your preschooler hit those learning milestones while having fun and getting creative. Come meet Grandma, you will love her!
Let’s face it, kids love the dirty world of creepy crawlies and all things that buzz, flutter, or scutter. And they are all here in the Grandma Loves Bugs app, which seamlessly mixes educational facts in with a sweet dollop of fun so that kids don’t even realise they are learning.
But first, you have to meet Grandma. The creators at Fairlady Media have done wonderful job in creating a warm and loveable character that is Grandma. She engages the user in a wide array of educational activities working with colours, numbers, memory, problem solving, creative building and more, while making it all seem like adventurous fun. No surprise that this character was designed by an educational psychologist then tested and approved by kids before hitting our screens. Everybody loves Grandma.
Designed for preschoolers, this educational app is also enjoyable for older kids. In fact I tested it myself and this 32-year-old kid was especially fond of the build a spider web game. Pull strings of web across the screen and attach them to the wooden beams to create your own spider web design. You can have fun creating all sorts of kooky patterns, then test your design to see how good it is at catching flies. In the end you learn there are good reasons behind how spider webs are built, making them the most optimum fly-catching design.
Alongside the ten games there are eight educational videos about our insect friends. These are lovely live action nature videos with engaging and clear narration. Grab the kids some popcorn and sit down with grandma to learn some facts about fuzzy spiders or buzzing fireflies.
The Grandma Loves Bugs app is available for iPad and iPhone only and can be found at the App Store for $3.79.
