Breastfeeding mamas tend to have a bit of a uniform when it comes to feeding-friendly clothes. Nursing clothes that fit well, look good and do the job well aren’t so easy to find. As we usher in a new season though, we have a new name in maternity and breastfeeding clothing to introduce you to that is sure to expand your breastfeeding-friendly wardrobe.

Viva La Mama is all about pretty and practical clothing for mums on the go. Designed and made by German mamas, Gunda and Katja, their range highlights discreet and creative breastfeeding access.

The Leonie short-sleeved T-shirt for $32, is made from viscose so it is supremely comfortable and it’s extra long so you can wear it when you are pregnant. It has two small concealed zippers on the edge of the contrasting sleeves for breastfeeding access.

The Sailor short sleeve maternity top in red and white stripes is super cute. The top layer of fabric over the chest can be lifted for breastfeeding but you would never be able to tell. I love the wide neckline and decorative bow to dress up this top for everyday wear and it also comes in navy blue. Retailing for $64, this top is sure to be a staple in your wardrobe this summer whether you are pregnant, breastfeeding or beyond it all.

Viva La Mama also makes some gorgeous dresses. This Verano Breastfeeding and Maternity Dress ($72) can be dressed up or down to work for all sorts of occasions. It also comes in light grey and cobalt blue but I love it in fresh mint green. Breastfeeding access can be found by lifting the top layer at the chest and the fall of the dress with the detachable sash is very flattering for pregnancy and recovering post-partum bodies.

Check out the full range of summer wear from Viva La Mama on Etsy. Their winter selection is just heating up and I love the baby wearing jacket that is in high demand. All pieces from Viva La Mama are made in Germany so be prepared for a shipping fee.

Just back from maternity leave, Kate Thompson is resigned to a house overrun by boys (3 kids, dog and husband). Existing in a phase she affectionately coins ‘monotonous chaos’, this stay-at-home-mum revels in moonlighting as a writer and feeling like a grown up every once in a while. A background in teaching and psychology, she entered parenthood confident she was up for the challenge, but now eats humble pie on a daily basis.
