For much of Australia the rain has well and truly arrived, so it’s time to pull out the wet weather gear and play in some puddles! Here’s a round up of some of the best rainwear available for children.
Before heading out of the door during autumn and winter, you should ensure you have an umbrella in your hand – and that goes for the kids as well.
For parents the safest option is a very clever Blunt Umbrella, so there’s no need to worry when you’re bending down to talk to a child, or trying to shield them from rain.
There’s also a Blunt Mini Umbrella available for the kids or to throw into the handbag.
If you still want to be able to see the kids while they’re sheltering under their brollies, go for a Stella Brella.
Next the kids will need a raincoat. If you’re after something a little stylish for girls, check out the amazing Oil & Water – just beautiful.
Aunty Ollie creates raincoats adorned with really stunning designs.
If you’re after something to keep children completely dry, warm and clean – have a look at some of the great kids’ rain suits and overalls that we’ve featured. Ducksday Rainsuits are adorable and functional – making any rainy day a play day.
Overcrawls are another great option, and I can imagine these would do well on a camping trip.
Now that we’ve covered the top half of the kids, it’s time to don some suitable rainy day footwear. We have a slight love affair with gumboots at Babyology – there are just so many brilliant boots on the market. Right at the top of the fashion stakes for gumboots is Bergstein. Durable and good-looking, they’re a wet weather legend.
To keep little toes both dry and warm, grab a pair of Australia’s very own Timber & Tamber Rain Boots. Just be aware that the business is currently undergoing a restructure so you may have to wait a while to get your hands on a pair.
If you need a rather small pair of gumboots, Wellies Online is your go-to – selling Australia’s smallest Wellington boots.
Hailing from Sweden – Polarn O. Pyret makes colourful and cute boots and raincoats with great designs.
And while we’re on the subject of Sweden, here’s another Swedish brand Tretorn, which make gumboots look high-fashion.
Just a little different from a regular gumboot, Butler Overboots are designed to fit over whatever footwear the child is wearing. These are great if the kids are dressed to the nines for a function, it’s raining and gumboots just won’t work with their outfit! Happy splashing!
