Here’s a Dear John letter, straight from the hearts of Aussie kids everywhere: “Dear Winter, we’re through. You’re moody, your jumpers are itchy, and you always keep us cooped up inside. We want to eat gelato on the front porch and scare our mums with crazy scooter jumps at the skate park.” Parents would add that kids should do those things wearing the most stylish gear, like the gorgeous spring summer 2015 collections from Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, and its older sibling, e3-M.
We love a good homegrown brand. As Australians, we’re super proud to call Queensland-based Eeni Meeni Miini Moh our own, and as Babyologists, we’re super excited to share a sneak peak of the new season with you.
After a winter spent wearing dark, heavy colours, it feels like our eyes are gobbling up the gorgeous colours of the zero to five range. The colour palette is full of all the freshest sorbet flavours at the gelato shop: tropical punch, lemonade, blueberry, watermelon and tangy lime.
For girls there are cheeky printed tees like the shocking pink Lemonade and Cookies cap sleeve tee, or the loose poplin, roly poly bird and tree singlet in rock melon with a sweet pink trim. The voluminous gathered heart shorts are so cute, we almost wish for them in adult sizes, except in this case we know better. What looks like cuteness perfected on a little girl is not the same on a grown woman, and the injustice is almost unbearable.
No collection is complete without a party dress like the Ribbon Dress (above right) with its fluffy, baby pink tulle skirt and fluoro yellow ribbon wrapped around the waist. While we think it would be great for birthday parties, let’s face it, some little girls like to wear tulle for everything: climbing trees, bombing down the footpath on a balance bike, gathering sticks for fort-building.
Fluoro yellow carries into the boys’ collection with a bright pair of structured twill shorts. When worn with a wide striped navy and white polo shirt, you have a look that’s one part preppy, one part awesome. There are also mixed pattern shorts, superhero and walrus sailor tees, but for us, the stand-out piece is the pair of navy, French terry slouch shorts with a kangaroo pocket. Designing something totally new with clothes is tough, and we’ve never seen anything like these shorts.
The e3-M collection for kids two to 12 years old is a little more grown-up, with a subdued colour palette. Many of the younger boys’ styles make an appearance, but with narrower cut bottoms, and a few button down shirts for special occasions.
We love the updated take on the traditional smocked dress for girls. The designers have added straps that look like braces for a look that’s girly with an edge.
Eeni Meeni Miini Moh hasn’t forgotten the littlest members of the family. The enfant collection is, as always, adorable, with its playsuits, tees, dresses and of course, bloomers. Boys’ tops and rompers have a charmingly simple hand-drawn car, while the roly poly bird makes its reappearance on the girls’ styles.
