What’s the best way to tell that spring is on its way? Is it the little daffodil buds pushing up from the ground? Or the first leaves starting to sprout on the bare branched trees? No and no. Around these parts, the true sign that spring is on its way is when Eeni Meeni Miini Moh launch their latest Spring Summer collection. Well, Babyologists, here comes the sun!

Eeni Meeni Miini Moh, quite possibly our favourite Australian childrenswear label, have today revealed their new 2014 spring and summer fashion looks for babies and kids. It might be the coldest, gloomiest winter day so far down here in Melbourne where I live, but I’m too busy basking in the glorious glow of EMMM’s new collection to care. Come, take a look and I swear, hand over my heart, you’ll be glowing soon too.

Let’s start with the babies, the delicious babies. There’s all the EMMM signature garments that parents have grown to love – bodysuits, playsuits, dresses, bloomers, shorts and more – but in an array of new colours and designs for the new season. Stripes and stars combine with girly ruffles and boyish prints to make the most cheek-pinchingly adorable babies even more irresistible. How is it possible? I don’t know. But EMMM do it, every time. The enfant collection comes in sizes to fit from newborn up to 18 months.

Now for the kids and oh, but there’s so much to love, both with EMMM and e3-M, the sibling label for bigger kids up to 12. I’m not even going to try and pick favourites amongst the 2014 girls’ collection – I’ll take one of everything please, starting with that tulle-bottomed dress up there. Flippy skirts. frilled dresses, pretty tees – the girls collection has it all going on. The new bright colours are spectacular too – sunshine, mandarin, tango, neon pink and orange. They work to impossible perfection with Eeni’s more usual muted palette of indigo, vintage purple, magenta and the like. The t-shirt prints too are pretty much perfect for girls – ballet shoes, ponies and roller skates, how will they choose? Safer to just grab your daughter one of everything, like I plan to do for mine.

The patterns too are sublime – polkadots, stars, delicate florals – even chevron makes an appearance. Now I’ve already mentioned dresses and skirts, but there’s also skeggings, skorts, shorts, cropped leggings too. So many of these outfits have special features – a tasseled or broderie anglaise hem here, a smattering of sequins and detachable wings there. What all that means is that whether it’s playdates in the park, afternoon tea at grandmas or a special family dinner at a restaurant that requires cutlery, Eeni Meeni has your fashion back.

So on to the boys, and both EMMM and bigger kids’ counterpart  e3-M have channeled the spirit of adventure with their usual aplomb right here. We like how Eeni don’t pigeon-hole boys into a particular theme with each collection. No. They recognise – and quite rightly, we think – that boys like so very many things and then they promptly serve it up on the softest, most wearable tees you’re likely to come across. So little boys get not just one, but all their favourites, from whales, submarines and sea planes to moustaches, super heroes and even lions. Things take a slightly hipper twist for bigger boys, with bikes, headphones and bold statement tees replacing cutsier motifs.

But what of bottoms? Well, Eeeni Meeni and e3-M do these incredibly well too. This 2014 spring summer season the boys get classic five-pocket shorts as well as denim and cargo versions. There’s boardies too for a real colour and pattern splash and Eeni brings back its lightweight long pants for when your kid needs to rock a preppier look. You might care to know the fabrics – washed canvas, twill denims, jersey knits, poplins and voiles –  are made to withstand all your usual rough and tough boy shenanigans, but being hardwearing doesn’t mean they’re not comfortable. EMMM would never stand for that.
