The show must go on! Award-winning singer Pink tackled a relatable dilemma when she went to work this week. Her kids had spluttered their germy bugs all over her and she faced performing in front of millions of football fans – with the flu.

“Two small Petri dish kids”

Pink was charged with singing the national anthem at this landmark event, and admitted she was very nervous about her ability to do a good job. The mum-of-two said this Super Bowl moment was one she’d dared to dream of since the very start of her career. On the eve of her performance, she revealed her kids had accidentally added an extra – quite snotty – degree of difficulty to what she dearly hoped would be a defining moment.

“Trying to practice the flu away,” a panicked Pink explained.”I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come. And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough INTO MY MOUTH and rub their snot on my cheek. You can’t write this stuff I swear!”

Trying to practice the flu away. I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come. And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough INTO MY MOUTH and rub their snot on my cheek. You can’t write this stuff I swear! And here we are. I’ve arrived at another one of my dreams which is slowly becoming a sort of nightmare. I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad and brother and step mama and family and the world. And the EAGLES!?!?! I promise I will do my best, as I always do. As far as the gremlins that got me into this mess, you can cough at me for the rest of your lives. If it’s a contest, babies, you win. #spreadthelove #spreadthegerms #pleasegivememyvoiceback #ificansingimgonnakillit

“Babies, you win!”

Pink said her dream was threatening to transform into something worrying and that the gravity of the event was starting to weigh her down.

Nailed it!

And win they … didn’t!!! Phew! *insert sigh of relief*

In true-to-form style a very poorly Pink pulled a stellar performance out of the bag like it was no big thing – and brought the entire house down! Take that germs! (And snotty gremlins!)

“I’m glad that’s over”

Pink was not the only one freaking out about doing a good job. Her husband Carey Hart was panicking too, albeit on the inside, and Pink was delighted!

“One of my fav moments last night,” Pink revealed on Twitter. “[Carey] being all cool, calm and collected until after I sang, he gets into the dressing room, sits down and says ‘ooh man I’m glad that’s over, I was nervous!’ I was shocked. First time that mad man has ever admitted to nerves.”

This performance is typical of this mum, but also typical of most mums who, when faced with illness, injury or other tricky situations, simply get the job done.

We’re all queens, guys! (But especially Pink, obviously!)
