Michael Bublé on son Noah’s cancer – “It’s too painful to really talk about”

Luisana Lopilato and Michael Buble

Michael Bublé and Luisana Lopilato are parents to three children, and it was their eldest son Noah who was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016 – when he was just three-years-old.

“It’s not my story to tell”

The family put everything on hold as Noah underwent chemotherapy and other treatment. Noah is now five and his parents say he’s well again.

“It’s obviously a difficult situation,” the singer said, speaking to Extra about Noah’s health battle. “It’s not my story to tell, it’s my boy’s story and one day when he’s ready he’ll tell it.”

Luisana and Michael have continued to be measured when it comes to talking about Noah’s health and the dad-of-three admits it’s because reliving that period simply hurts too much. That said, he’s doing his best in the hopes that it might be helpful to others.

“I’m not belittling what we’ve gone through,” Michael told Extra. “The fact is it’s too painful to really talk about and so for me, it’s fine to acknowledge it, but at the same time, I think I’m able to sort of … I hope that I can bring hope to other families who are going through hard things.”

Luisana admits she feels the same, explaining: “It’s difficult for me to speak about [Noah], it’s very recent and I’m still a bit sensitive about the subject.”

The couple welcomed another baby in July of this year – a daughter they named Vida. She’s the first sister for Noah and the pair’s other son, almost three-year-old Elias.

“I just want to enjoy the beautiful things”

Set to release a new album this month and ahead of a US tour, Michael sent a thank you message to fans who reached out when Noah was unwell.

“Your love your compassion, your prayers,” he said, “you got me through, you got my family through and so everything I do now is basically me saying ‘thank you’.”

The family’s traumatic experience was obviously horrendous to navigate, but it’s also provided some clear perspective on what truly matters.

“I just want to have fun,” Michael explained. “I don’t want to care about anything else, I just want to enjoy the beautiful things, my kids are good, everybody’s healthy, ya know, I just want to have fun now.”

We truly hope that happens for this cute gang because they truly deserve all the very best things.
