7 common genetic traits explained and how children inherit them
Ever wondered how likely it is you’ll have twins? Or whether your child will have red hair or be left-handed? Here are 7 common genetic characteristics explained, to give you an idea of what to expect and help demystify how your child got that one seemingly random trait!
Red hair
Once thought to be a recessive gene, red hair has now defied the odds by becoming quite a strong player on the hair colour front! More dominant now than blonde hair, it still doesn’t quite beat black and brown for the top spot.
To have a ginger baby both parents need to carry the red-headed gene, regardless of whether they actually have red hair or not themselves, meaning it’s possible for two brown haired people to have red-heads. And if two gingers get together? Well that’s a 100 percent carrot top baby right there. Luckily they’re super cute!
