Make every meal a winner with Fred Dinner Winner Plate

Looking for a way to encourage your child to actually eat their meals? We’re fairly confident we’ve found it.

If mealtimes at your house are anything like they are at mine, it’s pretty safe to say that the words ‘winner’ and ‘dinner’ are rarely used together in the same sentence. The Fred Dinner Winner plate seeks to change that, turning mealtimes from a battle into a ‘race’, complete with a prize for finishing.

Set out like a board game, the Dinner Winner plate has spaces for small portions of food, with a covered prize section for getting to the end. This is the sort of ingenious idea my kids could do with to get them eating more than plain pasta without complaint. I imagine it might also work on their natural sibling competitiveness as well. The Dinner Winner plate would of course work for breakfast and lunch just as well.

It is often the case that fussy eaters don’t actually like to have their foods all mixed together on the plate, and the separate compartments on this plate work perfectly for dividing the meal and ensuring the chicken isn’t ‘contaminated’ by the peas. The final compartment is covered for you to hide a ‘prize’ in for your child to discover at the end of they meal. Be it a sweet treat or some stickers, anything that motivates my kids to eat their dinner is a winner in my book.

The Fred Dinner Winner plate is made from moulded kid-friendly melamine and is dishwasher safe. It is available from Finlee and Me for $29.95 plus postage.
