What an incredibly special surprise the grassroots led #globalsussexbabyshower was last Sunday! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support in anticipation of the birth of their first child. In lieu of sending gifts, the couple have long planned to encourage members of the public to make donations to select charities for children and parents in need. If you already made a donation, the couple send you their greatest thanks. If you are thinking about it, they ask that you kindly consider the following organisations they’ve selected, which we will highlight here over the next few days: @thelunchboxfund @littlevillagehq @wellchild @baby2baby The Duke and Duchess remain appreciative for your warm wishes and kindness during this especially happy time in their lives! Thank you for sharing the love ❤️

Getting busy

Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry have had a lot to squeeze in during the final weeks before their baby arrives.

Meghan had at least two baby showers to be part of – one in New York and one fan-initiated one online – as well as final touches on the renovations at their new home, Frogmore Cottage.

They also had their own Instagram account to launch now they’ve moved away from Kensington Palace and formed the new Sussex household, AND final preparations for their baby’s birth – be it near to their new home or at the more traditional royal birthing venue St Mary’s Hospital.

Now news has filtered out that the couple squeezed in one last couple trip before their baby girl? little one arrives.

Private digs in the country

Meghan and Harry just enjoyed a “three-night £33,000 babymoon,” UK newspaper The Sun reports. That’s a $60,000 spend in our local currency.

“They spent three nights at the Long Room of Heckfield Place country house in Hampshire. The apartment has its own dining room and two private terraces.”

Their room (pictured below) has its own fireplace and is the perfect spot for some private time together, as far as we’re concerned.

Heckfield Place says on Instagram that this “private apartment features vaulted ceilings, sitting and dining room, private terrace and balcony with breathtaking views of the lakes, gardens and surrounding countryside. “

The Georgian property includes various bar and restaurant options, a working farm, stables, a spa and is nestled on the edge of some very pretty woodland. #HowLovely

The calm before the storm

Of course, no move by this couple goes without scrutiny and Instagram was awash with criticism about what was seen as yet another lavish spend.

“Please tell me how that is low key? 40,000 pounds for 4 days? So wasteful!” one angry follower posted.

“Spoilt just the way she expects,” another wrote.

But honestly? This response seems unfair from where we stand. These two are about to face even more invasive scrutiny as they welcome their first child. Who can blame them for ducking out of the spotlight briefly before the thirst for news – and images of them as a family of three – reaches fever pitch?

Good on them for taking a restorative break.

#heckfieldplace #heckfieldplacehotel #duchessofsussex #dukeandduchessofsussex #sussexroyal #princeharry #harryandmeghan #meghanmarkle Kensington Palace have declined to comment on reports that the Duke & Duchess went away on a baby moon. Given that the original report was from the same outlet that got the 'jewellery story' completely wrong, who knows if it is actually true or not. Either way why shouldn't the couple have a 'baby moon?' They have both worked hard and both been subjected to horrendous amounts of stress during Meghan's first pregnancy. There was never any confirmation that the couple went on a honeymoon but have their own wealth to finance such trips so no big deal. Other Royals have plenty of holidays so I don't see why it is a problem for the @Sussex royal Sussex's to take a much deserved break … if indeed they did. @heckfield_place looks a perfect relaxing destination. NB the pic of the couple is from their 2018 Royal Tour ?? ?? ??
