If you’ve ever had to rock, pat, walk, bounce, drive or otherwise coax your baby to sleep, you’ll know getting them settled is only half the battle. You still somehow have to get out of the room after they’re finally down (unless you’re so worn out that you’ve fallen into a heap next to them). So you’ll no doubt recognise some of the “escape” tactics in this funny video.
Leaving the room without waking the baby
Mum Esther and dad Thad have created this YouTube video showing nifty ways to make a quick and quiet escape once baby is settled. Their moves include the roll, the creaky floor (to avoid those noisy parts underfoot), the replacement (a teddy in place of mum or dad) and the ninja (a Mission Impossible-style stunt for the nimble).
Both my daughters were sleep-resistant in their first year, so a couple of these look very familiar (I still feel mild panic whenever I encounter a creaky floorboard at night). Of course this is just a bit of light-hearted fun, but it’s always good to know others also go to extreme lengths to let their babies rest!
