Actor Erika Christensen gave birth to her second bub on Saturday. The wee girl was in quite the rush to meet her parents and ended up being unexpectedly delivered by her daddy.
Erika – who played Julia Braverman on the popular TV series Parenthood – is married to cyclist Cole Maness. The pair were actually waiting on the doctor to arrive when their daughter decided she’s set a much speedier pace.

It happened! It happened this morning. And it will go down in family history because babygirl’s own, incredible Dad delivered her all by himself. My fault, as I didnt know she would come so quickly and didn’t call the doc until far too late. He came straight over and arrived about one minute after she joined us in the world. Haha! My Mom too. You should’ve seen their faces when they walked in to hear her little wail. Mom immediately took this picture. So epic. 9:21a (we think) at 7lbs 8oz (we think). 😆 Doc didn’t have time to grab the baby scale in his rush. Meet Ms. Polly. She’s chubby-cheeked and rosy and so beautiful. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
An elated Erika took to social media to announce this surprising turn of events.
“It happened! It happened this morning,” Erika posted on Instagram, sharing the first gorgeous photo of her newborn daughter.

“You should’ve seen their faces”
Erika (who, like her parents, is a practising Scientologist) says this brisk and DIY arrival caught everyone by surprise.

This looks like a Dali painting, where I’m melting. My belly is melting off my body. Right? Hahaha. Perhaps both the most intimate and yet the most foreign thing to occur to my body. So, I’m due THURSDAY. Still hoping for sooner, not because I’m over being pregnant but because, knowing what I’m getting into this time, I’d like to get on with it! Days spent pre-cooking meals and refamiliarizing myself with nursing accouterments and planning for this laying-in phase make me want to start! Meanwhile, the problem with finding a new show to binge is that I care more about Bosch’s cases than I do about my own life. I’m only watching at a reasonable pace to save some for recovering from delivery! #bingelife @boschamazon
“Freedom of personality”
Tiny Polly enters the world as a baby sister. Cole and Erika are already parents to two-year-old daughter Shane, born in June 2016. The LA-based couple married in 2015 and accidentally revealed this second pregnancy earlier this year.
“My parents definitely are Scientologists, approached parenting from a Scientology viewpoint,” Erika told former co-star Dax Shepard on his podcast a month or so ago.
“I know that now as an adult. I can see that in the way that they approached me as a kid and really tried to do what I’m doing now as a parent, which is trying to temper absolutely necessary discipline and rules and structure with fostering independent thought and freedom of personality.”
