Twilight’s Nikki Reed opens up about breastfeeding her toddler

Nikki Reed

Nikki Reed and husband Ian Somerhalder welcomed a baby girl named Bodhi Soleil back in 2017.

“It goes so fast”

The couple have kept their family life fairly private, so a recent update about breastfeeding surprised and delighted fans of the pair.

Bodhi is now 19-months-old and Nikki says that as her toddler’s breastfeeds are dropping off, she’s reflecting more and more on these precious early years.

“As we transition from four feedings a day down to two, I am remembering how important it is to stop what I am doing and enjoy every second of this bonding time,” Nikki wrote on Instagram this week, admitting she’s feeling a little emotional about her baby growing up.

“I am reminding myself that my hormones are shifting and that it’s normal to feel weepy as your body regulates through the transition,” she said. “It goes so fast.”

Single-tasking

These precious months between toddlerhood and preschool days have Nikki rethinking her parenting approach.

“Nursing and working usually happen all at once,” she noted. “Multitasking is the key to being a working mom…right?”

She’s keen to cast off this work-life juggle and add a little mindful clarity to the mix.

“Today I am reminding myself to slow down and separate the two,” Nikki explained. “Today working and bonding are going to have their own time, so I can try my hardest to soak up every moment, and smile at every detail.”

A new chapter

With a new chapter just around the corner, the mum-of-one is keen to treasure these sweet and smoochy days.

“Even if it’s just the night time feeding, people can wait and emails will be answered … when she’s finished.” she continued.

“The sounds, the swallows, where she puts her hand, watching her daydream, because before I know it we will have turned the page.”
